Where was Luke?

Chris helped Alex from the car. His limbs didn't want to cooperate and if he didn't lose consciousness between the car and the house it would be a freaking miracle. Why wasn't Luke down here?

"Where's Luke? And Griff?" he managed to ask.

Chris quickened his pace and Alex stumbled next to him as they burst into the foyer. Chris cursed loudly, released his hold on Alex, and fell to his knees on the floor next to the prone figure of Griff. Shit.

"Is he…?" Alex couldn't finish the sentence but both men sighed in relief when Griff groaned and rolled to one side.

"What the hell?" Griff said.

Chris assisted him to a sitting position and began pressing his fingers all over Griff checking for injuries. He looked back at Alex as he did so. There was only one question in his thoughts. What about Luke? Alex slumped against the table in the foyer and stared down at his friends as they hugged and reassured each other they were alive.

Alex didn't have to answer, surely it was written on his expression.

Luke wasn't in the house. He was gone. Alex couldn't connect to him. Luke was nowhere.
